Finally, I sold my little girly slippers. Thanks Peyton's daddy. Dave's partner brought his daughter over. So, I entertained her with kitties and a hole house full of art. She was wanting me to teach her everything. She fell in love with a painting, so I gave it to her. LOL I love giving away art. Anyway, she fit them perfectly, so her pop bought them for her birthday coming up. She is so cute, she wants to come over and make crafts with me. So, I could end up with a little girl to play with once a week. How fun!

Homework

I finished part 2 of my scenic sequence. I could use shading, but I imagine putting color to it in Illustrator. You'd be amazed what you can do. Anyway, I also got a bunch of 1-2 minute quick sketches done and my scenic drawing. I really love contour drawing. I feel I always sqrew my pictures up when I shade them...lol As always practice makes perfect. And I have been now officially drawing for 6 weeks. LOL These are terrible scans, unfortunately.

The castle scene
I cannot believe this project took me as long as it did. This is just one assignment. Jeez I got 6 more drawing assignments I think. I suppose it will have to wait. In the upper left corner is a mock up of what my animation will have. Like a little rough draft. Then I have the objects that are animated on the other sheets. The carriage and the balloon will need to be scaled down to fit in the scene. I think it is pretty good for my first animated scene. LOL
Project 2 Animation Drawing
I am still using my friends scanner for my artwork, so I thought I would take a quick break and share what I am drawing. The scene is a castle. The animation is this carriage riding across a bridge. A hot air balloon landing on the roof. A boat paddling cross the moat. and a bird flying in the ski. Here I am only 1/4 of the way done. This is going to take all day!

5 Minute Quick Sketch - Line of Action

I actually got my drawing finished for the week. This is only one assignment. It will be nice to have a weekend open. I wonder what I will do. I still have not came up with my idea for a process essay, so I should be thinking about that.

More Sequential Gestures
Trying to keep my drawings to three minutes doesn't allow for faces. Though, there usually are no faces on gestures. At least their not in the book. smirk The golfer was a difficult video to pause..lol Thought, maybe I got some pointers on my swing. I think I went all year without playing. That is so WRONG! I have been playing for 12 years. I do love it, but mostly love walking and the fresh air. But, I play well enough to not be embarrassed with the big boys...lol
Expressions
Quick sketches are fun and have a cartoon appeal. I cannot wait till I learn the animation part. I bet I will be using tracing paper at some point in my sequential studies. I didn't even think we could use it a classmate refered to it. LOL I think that gesture sketching everything helps me draw better and faster. I guess I will be able to trace in illustrator and the other programs I have not learned yet. I am excited about it all.

More class work

I am still using my neighbors scanner. Joan's my best friend, so it is all good. I have a ton of work this weekend. I am working on quick gesture sketches of sequences. This reminds me of the stick figure basketball player animation I would draw in my notebook during high school. I don't think I ever paid attention.

Skeletons in the closet
Gosh, yes more drawing. Homework and more homework. These are just in time for Halloween. LOL My one-two minute gesture sketches then a 5 minute contour sketch. It is snowing a lot here in Denver. Blizzard actually. My sister, who works downtown is gonna have to stay with us tonight. No driving in this crap. It is pretty, though I worry about all the outdoor kitties being warm.

Life Drawing
I think I like my drawing at 5 minutes. I hate having to detail so longer sucks for me. Animation is proving to be a great career choice for me..hahaha With more practice I will get quicker, I am sure. The model did not get naked. Probably all for the better so I was not distracted..hahaha I told him I may even model one day, if I can keep my clothes on...hahaha All those years of yoga should prove me well in my poses.

More Jesture Quick Sketches
I tell ya. It takes longer for my stupid scanner to scan these than it does to draw them. Jeez. I cannot really afford a new scanner. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I drew some male sketches too, but it is late and I am done screwing with technology difficulty this evening. I hope you enjoyed my quick sketches.
More quick sketches
Here are some objects I sketched from 1 to 3 minutes. I think I prefer the quick sketch. It appeals to my attention deficit disorder. LOL I tend to over work things if given too much time on them. It's a good thing that fast drawing is a good thing when it comes to animation.
The 5 Minute self portrait
Still practicing my quick sketch. My talented friend Joan sketched a 15 minute drawing of me that I duplicated in a shorter version. I wonder if I will get over my own lack of confidence in drawing. I have been very frustrated this week. But, I am determined to keep at this. It will help tremendously when I am able to work with a live model. This is the time I wish I had people to sit for me. LOL My husband isn't even keen on the idea. Go figure.
Stippling Marc Jacobs
So much for a still life, right? LOL I am working on this to for school. I will be taking and changing to hue to show different scale. This represents medium value. I have to tell ya, I have not drawn in over 20 years. I suck at etching because I have no experience. I stippled this piece because if was always an easy thing for me. ADD maybe. Who knows.

Naked Woman and cats? What?

I know. Lets see if they delete this image. These were quick drawings of figures. They have been shrunk down, so they loose their detail. I tell ya. I am excited about my career, but man I need to practice drawing. LOL I prefer more cartoony images because they are quick and easy. These could have a lot of detail, but I am still learning. I got a kick out of this last night.. A non artist to an artist..."Is that free hand?" LOL

Figure drawing basics
I am really busy, today. So, I am going to make this quick. I know how you like to see what I am up to. This is the first week of my 3rd term. I am taking a figure drawing for animation class. I am so thrilled about drawing again. I have not draw in so long. These are really rough sketches taking all of about 30 seconds to 2 minutes. I will doing a lot of these I am sure to get practice with motion. I love my major!!!

More boring school stuff.

My Image Editing teacher asked me if she could use my projects for her samples to class. That's cool with me. I really had fun, after many unsaved files that I screwed up. Ah, what is time anyway, right? I was ready to throw my laptop out the window. And believe me I have a temper when it comes to computer malfunction. LOL Speaking of image editing class, my friend Joan drew up some images that I will incorporate into graphic art. It is kinda fun mentoring another talented artist. I tell her what to paint and give her ideas for folk art and she provides me with her eloquent language and knowledge of writing. I want to write books, design books & illustrate books..and that is just the beginning...then there's animation. I am so excited!!!!!!!

Movie Web Page

Our last project in image editing is to create a web page of a current movie. Of course, I have to do something in animation. heehee. I love animated movies, but duh..that is my major. This is the final week of this term. I have my class schedule for next term. I have Art History, College Writing and Animation Figure Drawing. I am excited about all of them. But, it will be nice to have a whole week off. I have a busy week though, doing things I cannot attempt while in school. Oh well.

Ad Campaign Roughs
Not a real ad campaign, just a project in image editing. It was a crazy time working on this project. I originally made it in RBG. It was supposed to by CMYK. Then when I am finished with the 2nd version, I had 3 or 4 images open and saved a blank document over my work. WHAT THE ? I was so frustrated, so I worked on it again this morning. Luckily I was so good at it because it did not take more than a couple hours. FEEWW. I am not finished as I am waiting for my teacher to critique it and I need to make the registered trade mark logo out of text and a circle. Too bad photoshop does not have that Word feature. lol I may have to change the text to be more true to the thumbnails. They were green and orange. I did not have a large green blip to work with so I changed it. Now, I am taking a break before I work on my final essay in Success Strategies. I am almost on my last week of the term. Time flies at middle age. ;(

Web Banner

This Here is a web banner I made. Take the high road is right. This is a picture I took of Mt Evans at over 14,000 feet. The road is the highest elevation in North America. My partner in Image Editing did not turn in my project form, so originally I was supposed to do the campaign I gave him. I chose the Mercedes G550 because I want one...lol Anyway, I could not find a decent large format of the vehicle, so I chose IZZY. Dave's sister works for them and gave me some super images. I am excited about that campaign.

I heart Halloween
This image is me practicing clipping mask for image editing. I love Halloween. It is too bad it is the devil's domain. We are selling most of our party items this year. I doubt we will ever have a Halloween Party again, but I had to keep my costume, lighted spooky trees and crows. I love fall. Especially since I am a September baby. Oh, and by the way, it is my birthday. I officially turn 40 years old at 6:16 pm today.

Image editing project
Here is my final poster for project one in image editing. I have an interesting 2nd project due in a couple weeks, this time I have to design an ad and web banner for a classmate. That should be interesting. But, that means I have to tell my partner what I want and give him or her images to work with. I will let you know what I come up with.

Polka Dots
I finished a custom order for a little girls pair of slippers. I do not think I will do many custom orders for these anymore. They took too long and I am not charging enough. I hope the little girl likes them. I have not decided what to add to the other purple pair, yet. But I am sure I will figure it out. Also, I noticed my teacher liked my techno thumbnail as her second choice, so I get to try to create that poster instead. I chose the country one because I could figure it out. LOL The art I drew for the other may not be that easy to accomplish in a digital format. We'll see.

School & not much else

I am working on my rough posters for this weeks assignment. The one I did earlier with the rock and roll is my other choice. Unfortunately, I accidentally closed without saving. 1-2 hours of work, down the drain. That is what I get for having too many windows open!

Designing a kitty bed
I am using a couple of fabrics I received for my birthday from pea of Whimsical Endeavors to make a kitty bed. I have to make to trip to JoAnns for the cushion this week to work on this. I already washed the fabric, so that it will be washable. The kitty material will be the top/or bottom, the polka dotts are the sides. Black & white polka dot welt cording and some white beaded material on one side and lace on the other. What kind of lace is that, anyone know? Gingum came to mind, but I do not know what gingum is. lol Pop quiz, what other than art college do I have 2 years education? No it is not real estate either.
I have been knitting here and there. Some during camping and here and there. But, I have about 6 to 8 new ipod purses that just need their felted ball and strap attached. One of these days I will finish them all and get them out there. It is hard to get motivated to do something that does not bring money. Not now anyway. When I actually sell my patterns in a book, maybe that will bring money. *smirk* A boutique in Aspen looks pretty good to me. The rich can appreciate fine quality one of a kinds. :)
